How do I rent a storage unit with Store In Place?
You can rent a unit entirely online in just a few minutes! Choose your location, pick a unit size, and complete your rental through our secure online checkout. No phone call or office visit required, though our team is happy to help if you'd like guidance choosing a unit. Once your rental is complete, you'll receive your gate access code and can move in right away.
Do I need to sign a long-term lease?
No. All of our units are rented month-to-month, so you're never locked into a long-term contract. Whether that's one month during a move or several years, stay as long as you need.
Can I move in the same day I rent?
Yes. Because rentals are completed online through our self-service platform, you can rent a unit and move in the same day at any of our locations.
What storage unit sizes do you offer?
Unit sizes vary by location, ranging from small closet-sized 5x5 units for boxes and seasonal items to large 10x25 units that can hold the contents of a multi-bedroom home. Check out our unit size guide for a visual breakdown of what fits in each size, or contact us for a recommendation.
What size storage unit do I need for my belongings?

Can I change the size of my storage unit if my needs change over time?
You can transfer to a larger or smaller unit at any time, subject to availability. Since everything is month-to-month, there's no penalty for switching. Contact our team and we'll help you make the move.
Where are Store In Place facilities located?
We have storage facilities in Pisgah Forest, NC (serving Brevard and Etowah), Spartanburg, SC (serving Inman and surrounding communities), and Weaverville, NC (serving Jupiter, Stocksville, Flat Creek, and Barnardsville).
Do you offer climate-controlled storage?
Yes. Climate-controlled units are available at our Spartanburg, SC facility. Climate control protects temperature-sensitive items like wood furniture, electronics, photos, and documents from extreme heat, cold, and humidity. Our Pisgah Forest and Weaverville locations offer drive-up and outdoor storage options.
What is drive-up storage?
Drive-up units let you pull your vehicle directly up to your unit's door, making loading and unloading fast and easy. No hallways, stairs, or elevators. Drive-up access is available at all Store In Place locations.
What can't I store in a storage unit?
For safety reasons, prohibited items include flammable or hazardous materials (gasoline, propane, paint, chemicals), perishable food, plants, live animals, and anything illegal. Vehicles must be operational, registered, and insured to be stored. If you're unsure about a specific item, just ask our team.
Do you offer RV and boat storage?
Yes. RV & boat storage is available at all three Store In Place locations. Our parking spaces accommodate RVs, boats, trailers, and other vehicles, with convenient drive-up access for easy arrivals and departures.
What do I need to store my RV, boat, or vehicle?
Your vehicle should be operational, registered, and insured. Contact your preferred location for space dimensions and availability.
When can I access my storage unit?
All Store In Place facilities offer gate access daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Our office team is available Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, for any questions or assistance.
How do I get into the facility?
Each facility is gated with electronic keypad access. You'll receive a personal gate code when you complete your rental, giving you secure entry during access hours.
What security features do your facilities have?
Our facilities are fully fenced and gated with electronic keypad entry, video surveillance, and bright lighting throughout the property.
Do I provide my own lock?
Yes. Store In Place does not supply locks for tenants. You'll want to bring your own lock when you move in to secure your unit.
How do I pay my storage bill?
You can pay online anytime through our online payment portal. Set up autopay to have your rent charged automatically each month. No late fees, no hassle.
When is rent due, and are there late fees?
Rent is due monthly on your billing date. If your account becomes past due, late fees may apply and gate access may be suspended until the balance is paid. Accounts that remain delinquent are subject to lien sale under state law (NC G.S. 44A / SC Title 39)
Do you offer move-in specials?
Yes! We regularly offer move-in specials at all of our locations. Check the facility's page for current deals on available units.
Do I need insurance for my stored belongings?
We require tenants to carry coverage for their stored items. You can use an existing homeowners or renters insurance policy that covers stored property, or enroll in an affordable tenant protection plan at the time of rental.
How do I cancel or move out of my unit?
There's no long-term commitment and no early termination fees. Simply clean out your unit and let the office know you've moved out. Since all rentals are month-to-month, you can move out at any time.
